Make Music Happen

Make Music Happen

Welcome to Make Music Happen! MMH is a musical instrument lending program created by Holly Sagrestano as her Girl Scout Gold Award Project in 2018. This musical lending library was created to help patrons connect with the musical arts regardless of financial means. If you want to try an instrument to see if you would like to pursue it in the future, this program is the perfect one for you. You can check out any instrument for up to a year. We have a wide range of instruments from guitars to drums to keyboards, not to mention trumpets, clarinets and flutes.

FAQs:

How do I get an instrument?

Call the Library at 315-733-1535 to verify availability of the instrument you would like to borrow before stopping in.  Once we can verify that the instrument is available, you can stop in and pick it up at your convenience.

How long can I borrow the instrument?

For up to one year at a time.

Who can check out instruments?

Anyone with a Mid York Library Card and an account in good standing (no fines)! All instruments must be checked out on an Adult card.

Do you deliver instruments through the Mid-York Library System through their delivery service?

No. You have to come directly to the New Hartford Public Library to pick up an instrument and return the instrument.

Will you teach me how to play the instrument?

We do not provide instrument lessons at the Library.

Is there paperwork involved?

Because the instruments are expensive to purchase and maintain, we do ask you to sign a special agreement outlining what happens if the instrument should be lost or broken while you have it. All instruments are in good working order when we lend them out.
